Great Tythe Barn Wedding Venue – Tetbury, Gloucestershire
Another quick review of some of the amazing wedding venues that the Cotswolds has to offer. Please note I am not affiliated with any venue, these are just my views as a wedding photographer.
The clue is in the title, The Great Tythe Barn is GREAT! Actually, that doesn’t really do it justice. The venue is absolutely amazing and provides so many opportunities for fantastic shots. The barn has been operating since 1995 and has handled hundreds of weddings, so you know you are in very capable hands if you are holding your ceremony here. The venue centres around the 16th century Cotswold stone barn and is surrounded by former farm buildings, now transformed into 11 self-catering cottages as well as Bed & Breakfast accommodation.
The cottages overlook the main entrance of the barn, so if you are having your bridal preparations onsite then you’ll be able to keep tabs on all the comings and goings whilst you’re relaxing with your bottle of bubbly! It is only a short walk from the cottages across the stoney courtyard to the barn, so you won’t get wet muddy feet if it’s raining! The windows can also be ‘blacked out’ to ensure no one sees the bride in her dress before she enters the barn.
The barn provides a long, well lit aisle, ensuring the bride has plenty of time to bask in the limelight as she walks toward her groom. The balconies also provide a different perspective where musicians or bands can play music during the ceremony or wedding breakfast.
There isn’t very far to walk for some gorgeous portrait locations. Just across the courtyard is the peace and quiet of the walled garden with a small wooded area to capture those special shots. Even in the depths of winter you can guarantee great, colourful shots; the photo below was taken in the middle of December!
