If you Google ‘Wedding Photographer Gloucestershire’ you’re greeted with a lot of options. So, why should you book me to photograph your wedding?
As a documentary wedding photographer, I’m there to tell the story of your wedding day, the whole day, not just a couple of hours of it. I don’t do hourly packages as it’s impossible to capture the true spirit of your day within a limited time slot. So if you’re looking for a few quick snaps of the ceremony, then I’m probably not your man.
I’m there for the whole day. I want to capture the tears of joy, tears of sadness, the stories being exchanged, the laughter and the happiness of your wedding day. From the bridesmaids giggling whilst they put their make up on, right through to Uncle Bob re-enacting some impressive moves on the dancefloor…I’m there to capture it all.
Firstly, I am a natural light wedding photographer. You won’t find a flashgun permanently perched on top of my camera popping away whilst there’s perfectly good light to work with. As a fellow photographer says, using flash when it’s unnecessary screams of ‘look everybody, I’m the photographer!’. It immediately puts everybody on tenterhooks and makes everyone aware that a photograph is imminent! That is not what I want to do.
In my opinion, a flashgun should only be used in a creative way or when the light is so poor that flash is the only way to light a scene. If I have to use flash, I try to be creative with it.
I don’t interfere with your day or pester your guests. I want the day to unfold naturally in the same way it would if I wasn’t there. I want people to act 100% naturally and for their personalities to shine through in the pictures I take.
To get these natural shots I simply position myself where I believe a special moment or scene is about to happen. It’s more than just being lucky or hoping to be in the right place at the right time. It’s a case of using experience to anticipate where that special moment will happen and then to capture the emotion behind it.
The only point of the day when you’ll notice me is when we disappear away from the wedding party to take a few ‘one on one’ portrait shots. Typically never more than half an hour, it’s a fantastic opportunity to get those special personal portraits. I usually aim to take these shots as the sun is setting when the light is perfect for these shots. These are the images that tend to appear on the mantelpiece for years to come!
Engagement/pre-wedding meetings come as standard with my wedding package. It’s not a hidden extra. For me, it’s a key part of the whole process. It gives me an opportunity to meet you, to have a good chat and to get an idea of your plans for the wedding. It’s for you to tell me what you expect from me. I love to meet at the venue where your ceremony is taking place to get some fun photos. It gives us both the opportunity to relax, have a chuckle and gets you used to the camera and it gives you the chance to see how your shots appear with my style of photography.
I also offer a ‘photo-booth’ style backdrop and props at an additional cost if you would like to use it. It is a fun way to finish off a fantastic day and gives you the opportunity to show off your silly side with a handful of funny props and hats!
All of the processed shots are supplied in glorious high definition on a USB for you to use as you wish. I do not limit the amount of photographs you will receive. If an image forms an integral part of your day then it appears in the story of your day. I also include smaller sized digital images of the whole set to allow easier sharing of your wedding photographs on Facebook or Twitter.
…and it’s not all about the bride and groom. The pets are an important part of the day and they want a piece of the action too!
